Frequently Asked Questions
Which EV charger brands do you service?+
Every major OEM in the Canadian market: ChargePoint, FLO, Blink, EVBox, Tesla, Siemens, SemaConnect, ABB, Delta, Schneider, SWTCH, Wallbox, Power Electronics, and more. We are vendor-neutral — your installation may have three brands and we cover all three under one contract. Some OEMs require certified tech credentials for warranty work; we hold those certifications for the common ones and partner with OEM-certified providers when deeper warranty work is required.
What is the difference between service and repair?+
Service = scheduled preventive maintenance (cleaning, connection torque check, firmware updates, surge protection testing, grounding verification, connector inspection). Repair = fix when something is broken (connector damage, power module failure, comms failure, networking issues). We do both, under one contract.
Do I need this if my charger is under warranty?+
Yes, usually. OEM warranty covers manufacturing defects in the unit itself. Warranty does NOT cover the electrical installation, the surge protection, the networking, vandalism, weather damage, connector wear, or site-level issues. Most service calls are outside warranty scope. Voltwatch service keeps the full system up; warranty covers only the unit.
What uptime do you actually deliver?+
Standard service contract targets 95% uptime across the station fleet, measured monthly, with service credits if missed. Premium contracts target 98%+ with 4-hour emergency response. Utilization profile and installation location affect achievable targets — we baseline honestly during scoping.
Can you help maintain rebate compliance?+
Yes. Many installations carry ongoing conditions from NRCan Zero-Emission Vehicle Infrastructure Program (ZEVIP), Hydro-Québec, BC Hydro, Ontario EV-ChargeON, and similar programs. Conditions often include functional uptime, accessibility reporting, and payment integration. We maintain the documentation and submit required reports to keep rebates compliant.
Do you do new installations too?+
Limited. Our primary work is maintenance and repair on existing installations. For new installations, we partner with specialty EVSE installers and project managers. We do handle modifications (load balancing, adding a unit to an existing bank, networking changes) on existing installations.
What about DC fast charging for fleet yards?+
Yes. DC fast charging (50 kW - 350 kW+) is a growing portion of our book as commercial fleets electrify. Maintenance requirements are stricter due to higher utilization and thermal cycling. Scheduled preventive intervals are typically shorter than Level 2. We specialize in fleet-yard DC fast charging service.
Standards We Operate Under
An EV Charger Service Built Around Uptime and Rebates.
Voltwatch was started because commercial EV charging infrastructure is growing fast and nobody is maintaining it properly. Stations go offline quietly. OEM warranty is narrow. Rebate compliance falls through. When a fleet arrives and the chargers are down, everyone scrambles.
Voltwatch runs vendor-neutral preventive maintenance with uptime SLAs, rebate-compliance reporting, and licensed electricians on every call. Plugged in. Up. Reporting.
